At Rye College we are developing a 'knowledge curriculum'. A 'knowledge curriculum' is one where there is a formally defined body of knowledge for each subject. The curriculum is structured carefully so students are not just exposed to new knowledge but frequently revisit old knowledge to ensure new ideas and concepts can be built on those they already understand.

At Rye College, we recognise that our students' understanding and use of subject specific vocabulary is of the utmost importance.

We place great emphasis building a rich and deeply ingrained vocabulary from Year 7, thus preparing our students for their GCSEs, and beyond. As a result, we have developed 'Subject Vocabulary Banks', now available for your perusal by clicking the subject specific links below.

Subject Vocabulary Banks are the keywords, broken down into subjects, year groups and school terms that will serve as the focus in lessons, activities and homework across the college. Students will be fully supported in learning to spell, define and write contextually, with this essential vocabulary.
