On Tuesday 21st June the Year 8 rounders team went to St Richards Catholic School in Bexhill for the Hastings and Rother district tournament. After winning both of our pre-season warm up games and many training sessions, we were feeling really confident going in.

Our first match was against St Leonards Academy which we won comfortably by 6 1/2 to 3 rounders. Our fielding was excellent and we made it really hard for them to score.

Our second match was against Hastings Academy which we won with a score of 8 rounders to 1.

Our final match in our pool was against Battle Abbey which we won by 6 rounders to 2. Again our fielding was brilliant, so much so that we managed to catch all of the other team out by ball 15.

These wins saw us breeze through to the final against St Richards who had also won all of their games in their pool. We fielded first and they scored a total of 4 1/2 rounders. Then it was our turn to bat. when Jada stood up to take the last ball of the game we were on a score of 4 rounders. We needed half for a draw and 1 for a win. Jada was obstructed by the other team, which gave us the half we needed for the draw, and still managed to get all the way round for a full rounder meaning we won the game by 5 1/2 to 4 1/2!! We can officially call ourselves the Year 8 Hastings and Rother Rounders district Champions!

A huge well done to all the girls, especially Trinity for being such an excellent captain, Hollie for some great bowling and Jada for scoring off the last ball to win the tournament!
