You may have heard that there are currently confirmed measles outbreaks in Liverpool, Leeds and the West Midlands. There is going to be a national teleconference next week as this has now been declared a major incident by PHE (Public Health England).

There are also several large measles outbreaks across Europe, with Romania, Italy, Germany and Greece being the worst affected countries, and there is a continued risk of imported cases, highlighting the need to maximise efforts to acheive 95% uptake of two doses of MMR to prevent spread.

In the South East there has been a confirmed outbreak in Surrey which to date have been in a range of age groups, with the majority not being vaccinated.
