Congratulations to our two Year 7 students, Sean Lane and Keziah Seal, who won two stages of the National Foreign Language Spelling Bee and represented Rye College at the South East Regional Final at Brighton University last week.

All students in Year 7 took part in the first stage, with the top 14 competing to represent the school. Each competitor had to learn the French alphabet carefully so they could translate and spell out any of 150 words picked at random. They had to stand up in front of a large audience and spell as many words as possible in one minute. Our students were amazingly calm, spoke clearly and knew their words.

It was an excellent experience for Rye College students and we are all so proud of their achievements. The competition aims to encourage enjoyment in learning languages.
