On Saturday 4th November 2017 the Prize-giving Ceremony for the inaugural Stormont Awards was held at Rye Art Gallery. The competition was arranged by Kate Van Der Pump on behalf of the Trustees of Rye Art Gallery, to bring the gallery and local schools together through a shared creative practice.

The Prize-Giving Ceremony was the busiest I have ever been to! The gallery was absolutely full to the brim with wonderful students and their families, all jostling to try and see the beautiful artwork on display and the presentations! The Mayor of Rye Jonathan Breeds presented the awards to the winning students from each Key Stage. The School Award for KS3 went to Rye College which came with a generous prize of £100 for the Art Department. The student winners were: First Place: Evie Y7, Second Place: Emma Y8, Highly Commended: Alexa Y9, Mia Y7 and Bede Y7! The prize winners were presented with substantial vouchers for Art-Write, which was a very exciting prize for any Art Student!

A huge congratulations to all of our successful students, you are an absolute credit to the College! The exhibition is on at Rye Art Gallery until the 13th November 2017, so if you missed it you still have a chance to see this wonderful exhibition of work from all of the local schools.
